MK Fishing Academy And Guides

Maurice Kemp – Founder of MK Fishing Academy For Maurice Kemp, bass fishing is far more than a hobby—it’s a lifelong passion, a family tradition, and a way of life. Growing up, Maurice spent countless hours on the water with his father, Philip Kemp, learning the art and science of bass fishing. Those early days laid the foundation for what would become a deep love and respect for the sport. Philip Kemp, Associate Editor of South African Bass Fishing Magazine, played a significant role in developing Maurice’s knowledge of bass fishing, conservation, and the outdoor lifestyle. Through years of fishing together, Maurice learned not only how to catch fish but also how to understand bass behavior, seasonal patterns, and the importance of protecting fisheries for future generations. Today, Maurice is the founder and head guide of MK Fishing Academy, where he dedicates his time to teaching and mentoring anglers of all ages and skill levels. Whether guiding a complete beginner on their first fishing trip or helping an experienced angler refine advanced techniques, Maurice believes that everyone can improve and enjoy the sport of bass fishing. MK Fishing Academy specializes in both bank fishing and boat fishing instruction, offering practical, hands-on guidance that helps anglers develop confidence and skills on the water. Maurice’s teaching style focuses on making bass fishing enjoyable, understandable, and rewarding. His goal is not simply to help people catch fish but to teach them why fish behave the way they do and how to consistently become better anglers. One of the greatest rewards for Maurice is introducing young anglers to the sport. Seeing children catch their first bass, learn new techniques, and develop a passion for fishing is what motivates him to continue growing the academy. He believes fishing teaches patience, discipline, respect for nature, and creates lifelong memories with family and friends. Beyond guiding and teaching, Maurice is also an active competitive tournament angler. Over the years, he has competed in numerous bass fishing tournaments and has achieved several strong finishes against highly skilled competitors. His tournament experience has allowed him to continuously improve his understanding of bass fishing under pressure and adapt to changing conditions on a wide variety of waters. Maurice has also earned recognition through his participation in competitive circuits, including the Cast for Cash and MLF League competitions, where he has secured trophy-winning performances. These achievements reflect his dedication to the sport and his commitment to continually learning and improving as an angler. Despite his competitive success, Maurice remains passionate about sharing his knowledge with others. He believes that every fishing trip presents an opportunity to learn something new, whether you’re a first-time angler or a seasoned tournament competitor. Through MK Fishing Academy, he strives to create unforgettable experiences while helping anglers become more successful and confident on the water. With a lifetime of bass fishing experience, a strong tournament background, and a passion for teaching, Maurice Kemp continues to inspire and educate the next generation of anglers. His mission is simple: to share his love for bass fishing, help others achieve their goals, and ensure that the sport continues to grow for years to come. From the bank to the boat, from beginner to tournament angler, MK Fishing Academy is committed to helping every angler enjoy the thrill of bass fishing and create memories that last a lifetime.
