How session mode works

Set up in three quick steps, track every cast and log fish as they come in.

What it is

Session mode is your live log for a day on the water. You tell it how you are fishing, where you are and what is on each rod. Then you track casts and log fish as you go, and it saves the weather with everything.

Why it helps

  • Every fish is saved with the rod, bait and conditions it came on, so you can see what really works.
  • Soak times and blank casts are tracked for you, so you learn how long to leave a bait out.
  • Over a season you build honest stats: fish per hour, best venues and best conditions.

Step by step

  1. Tap Start session

You will find it on Home and on your profile. Start session on a fishing spot page fills in that spot for you.

  2. Species: bass or carp?

Pick Bass (lures, soft plastics and spinners) or Carp (pap, gooi, mielies and bait from the bank). A bass session lets you log bass, trout, barbel and kurper; a carp session lets you log carp, grass carp, kurper, barbel, mudfish and yellowfish. You still pick the species for each fish.

  3. Location: where are you fishing?

Search your spots or AnglersHub spots. At a new place, tap Add a location. Submit a public spot, or make a private spot pinned with your GPS that stays on your session only.

  4. Rods: build your setups

For each rod, pick the rod, reel and bait from your tackle box, or type them in. Tap Add another rod for more. Gear is optional, so you can start now and fill it in later.

  5. Start the session

Tap Start session. The weather, pressure and moon at your spot are saved straight away.

  6. Start cast and End cast

When a rod goes in, tap Start cast on that rod. A soak timer runs. When you reel in, tap End cast and answer Did you catch a fish? with Yes, log fish or No, blank cast.

  7. Log a catch

Tap + Log catch any time. Pick the species and the rod it came on, add the weight or size, mark it Released if it went back, and add a photo. The weather is saved with the catch.

  8. End session

Tap End session when you pack up. If you left earlier, choose I finished earlier and set the real time so your hours stay accurate. You then get a summary of the trip.

Tips

  • Catches save on your phone even with no signal at the dam. They upload by themselves when you are back in signal.
  • Changed hookbait or dip? Tap Change baits on that rod so the next fish is logged on the right setup.
  • Add the app to your home screen first. It opens faster and feels like a normal app on the bank.
  • Your session stays live if you close the app. Open AnglersHub again and you are back on your session.

Common questions

I caught a species that is not in the list. What now?

Each style shows the species most anglers catch that way. If yours is missing, log it from Log a catch on your profile and pick it there.

Do I have to fill in my tackle?

No. Gear is optional. It just makes your stats more useful, because you can see which rod and bait caught what.

I forgot to end my session last night.

Open it and tap End session, then choose I finished earlier and set the time you actually packed up.

Heading out? Set up takes about a minute.
